Permits you need
Most treks require two things: a TIMS card (Trekkers' Information Management System, issued by the Nepal Tourism Board and TAAN) and an area permit for the conservation area or national park you enter.
- Annapurna region — Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP).
- Everest region — Sagarmatha National Park entry permit plus the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality fee.
- Langtang region — Langtang National Park permit.
- Manaslu — Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (and a restricted-area permit, below).
Restricted areas
Some regions — Upper Mustang, Upper Dolpo, Manaslu, Nar–Phu and Tsum Valley — require a Restricted Area Permit. These are issued only through a registered trekking agency, usually require a licensed guide, and a minimum of two trekkers travelling together.
