The Poon Hill Trek is a short, scenic route in Nepal’s Annapurna Region primarily focused on hiking, cultural immersion, and mountain viewing. The most critical activity is the early morning ascent to Poon Hill (3,210m) to witness a panoramic sunrise over the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Machhapuchhre ranges.

What you'll do

Step 1
Trekking through diverse landscapes

Hikers traverse rhododendron and oak forests, cross suspension bridges, and navigate steep stone staircases, notably the 3,300 steps leading to Ulleri

Step 2

The route passes through traditional Magar and Gurung villages such as Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk, where trekkers can visit the Gurung Museum and experience local hospitality

Step 3
Wildlife and nature observation

The trail offers opportunities to spot local flora and fauna, including the Himalayan Monal (Nepal’s national bird), langur monkeys, and musk deer
